On Tuesday, July 27, 2010, officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department conducted an underage decoy operation at alcohol establishments within the City of Santa Rosa.

A total of 16 licensed premises or locations were visited by a minor decoy in which the decoy attempted to purchase an alcoholic beverage.  Several of those locations included different vendors at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.  Only one of the businesses visited by the decoy sold an alcoholic beverage.  An employee at the following location was issued a citation for selling alcohol to a minor:

Sam’s Market, 2790 Santa Rosa Avenue

Funds for this operation were supplied by the Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Santa Rosa Police Department will continue to routinely conduct undercover operations with the goal of obtaining compliance from both local businesses and the general public of the laws regarding minors and alcohol.

On Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at approximately 7:55 p.m., the Santa Rosa Police Department was notified of a stabbing that just occurred in the 900 block of Washington Avenue.  Responding officers arrived and located a 17 year old stabbing victim.  The victim had in excess of 15 stab wounds and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.  None of the injuries proved to be live threatening.

The initial investigation revealed the victim had been chased a few blocks by multiple suspects.  The suspects captured the victim and stabbed him multiple times.  The suspects fled the area prior to the police arriving on scene.  This incident has been investigated as a gang-related crime and the investigators from both the Gang and Violent Crime Investigations Teams have been assigned to this crime.

On Thursday, July 22, 2010, investigators learned the identity of the four suspects—three adults and one juvenile.  Search warrants were served at the four suspects’ residences and one of the adult suspects, Lorenzo Medina was arrested.  Suspect Medina was later booked at the Sonoma County Jail for attempted murder and two gang-related enhancements. 

At this point, the three outstanding suspects are: 

Jesus Camacho Nunez, 21 years old, Attempted Murder

Miguel Angel Galvan-Morfin, 22 years old, Attempted Murder

A 17 year old Hispanic Male Juvenile

The Sonoma County Alliance, through its “Take Back Our Community Program” has offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the outstanding suspects in this case.  Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Riley or Detective John Cregan of the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Gang Crime Team at (707) 543-3670.

This appears to be a gang related incident. Detectives from the Gang Crime Team responded and took over the investigation.  Anyone with information about this incident is requested to contact the Gang Crime Team at (707) 543-3670.

On Thursday, July 16, 2010, at about 5:15 a.m., the Santa Rosa Police Department received calls regarding an argument and gun shot between two men in an apartment complex in the 2000 Block of Piner Road in Santa Rosa. 

Responding officers located the victim, a 31 year old Santa Rosa man, who told officers he had been robbed of cash by a man he did not know who approached him and asked him for a cigarette.  Witnesses said there was an argument between the two men in the parking area to the apartment complex when a single gun shot was heard.  According to the victim, the shot was fired toward the ground and the victim was not hit by the bullet. 

Officers on scene located a spent cartridge from a semi-automatic handgun and other evidence of the altercation.  Officers, with the assistance of Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies, searched the area of the apartment complex and adjacent neighborhood for the suspect but did not locate him.  The suspect was described as a Black male, 20-22 years old, over 6 feet tall, approximately 185 lbs., with shoulder length hair in a ponytail.  He was wearing a black coat, black pants and a baseball cap on backwards.  The case is still under investigation by the Santa Rosa Police Department.  Anyone who may have seen the incident or who has information regarding this case is asked to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department at (707) 543-3600.
